Quick-made Healthy Pimm’s Cup

The classic Pimm’s Cup cocktail, also known as Pimm’s Cup and Lemonade, is one of several fruit cups, the primary spirit being the No. 1 cup of Pimm’s, a gin-based drink flavored with fruits and spices, which was invented around 1823 as a health drink. It is especially delicious on a summer afternoon. Don’t leave out the cucumber and mint—make this drink a go-to garnish!

The cocktail was introduced to the United States during the late 1940s, where it became popular in New England and New Orleans.

History Of Pimm’s Cup

Pimm’s, the base liquor of Pimm’s Cup, was created sometime after 1823 when James Pimm opened an oyster bar and began serving spirit-based punch and cups. Pimm got his first liquor license in 1851 and leased or sold the bar to S.D. Morey in 1856; it changed ownership several times after that. At one time, Pimm one of his employees or one of his successors created the first Pimm’s Liqueur, which was designed to be mixed with lemonade. It was trademarked and released commercially in 1912.

Pimm’s can also be mixed with Champagne, resulting in a drink called the “Royal Cup of Pimm’s”. A winter cup of Pimm’s is typically mixed with warm apple juice. The “Glasgow Garden Party” is a drink made with Irn Bru instead of Pimm’s lemonade, with no fruit garnish. “Pimlet” is a gimlet that uses Pimm’s No. 1 gin instead. Pimm’s Mojito uses squeezed lime and soda water instead of lemon and lime soda.
